Impact at Scale

Our sustainable sourcing team is dedicated to making a significant impact in the food system by collaborating with key partners and suppliers to pilot regenerative farming practices and net-zero supply chains. Our efforts extend to advocating for market transformation within the broader industry.

We actively participate in initiatives like the Sustainable Spices Initiative (SSI), SAI Platform, and AIM-Progress. Our colleagues on these committees work with peers to share best practices and make progress against industry challenges.

Through these collaborations, we are driving meaningful change and advancing our commitment to sustainability on a global level.

Working With Suppliers Toward Net Zero

Supplier engagement is crucial to achieving our sustainability goals. We actively engage our suppliers to ensure their practices are in alignment with our climate action strategy through direct collaboration, such as Griffith Foods Europe’s webinar events, and our TEROVA field teams. Additionally, we use the EcoVadis supplier assessment tool to track progress on environmental, ethics, labor and human rights, and sustainable procurement issues with our suppliers, as well as our own company’s performance.

In fiscal year 2023, Griffith Foods was awarded with a gold medal, and we are proud that 76% of our spend was sourced from suppliers with a bronze or higher medal from EcoVadis. This is an acknowledgment of the suppliers’ hard work to implement policies and practices that improve sustainability and human rights in their operations.

Creating a Lasting Impact With TEROVA

Our TEROVA teams are driving transformative change in agriculture by working directly with farmers to enhance sustainability through education and training. In fiscal year 2023, we positively impacted 2,403 small-scale farmers by directly sourcing from them, ensuring fair prices and providing sustainability education.

TEROVA works with farmers all over the world, including chili farmers in India. We are helping the farmers improve sustainability by reducing fertilizer use, promoting composting and soil enrichment, and implementing safety nets for drying chilis, which improves ingredient integrity and reduces wasted product. Looking ahead, we are committed to reaching even smaller-scale chili farmers in Northeast India to extend our impact on this crop.

Partnering on Regenerative Agriculture

Griffith Foods plays a key role as an enabler of regenerative agriculture. Thanks to our place in the food supply chain, we are able to support farmers and partner with experts on agronomy. We have a regenerative agriculture pilot underway with Parrish & Heimbecker, Limited; the Ontario Soil & Crop Improvement Association (OSCIA); and the Sustainable Food Lab.
