In the early 1980’s, Micro-Biotrol, Inc., an independently operated subsidiary of Griffith Laboratories International, Inc. (now known as Griffith Foods International Inc.), provided sterilization services for certain industries including medical equipment, as well as materials in the polymer industry, from a facility in Willowbrook, Illinois.
In 1999, Griffith sold its sterilization operations (then known as Griffith Micro Science), including the Willowbrook facility, to Ion Beam Applications, which later became Sterigenics.
Sterigenics has been named in several lawsuits arising from its operation of the Willowbrook facility. Recently, Griffith Foods was named as a defendant in these cases, despite not having any connection to sterilization operations for over 20 years.
While we cannot comment on the specifics of the Sterigenics lawsuits, Griffith Foods fully intends to defend its reputation and values as a responsible owner against any claims that allege otherwise.
